Alfonso Frank Sosa, 82, of Port Arthur passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.
He was born on February 16, 1936 to his parents, Damaso E. Sosa, Sr. and Jovita Rendon Sosa in Port Arthur, Texas. Alfonso lived most of his life in the Port Arthur area. He served in U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War and retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. Alfonso worked at Great Lakes Carbon as an operator for many years and later worked for Culver Medical Supply as a Delivery/Installer for a number of years until he retired. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven of his siblings.
Alfonso is survived by his loving wife, Martha o. Sosa of Port Arthur, his two daughters, LaDonna Sosa of Gresham, Oregon and Colette Ausmus and husband, Ken of Gresham, Oregon, his son, Alfonso Sosa, Jr. and step-son, Patrick Keenan and wife, Kim of Spurger, Texas, his four grandchildren, Nicole McLennan (Ken), Daniel Ausmus (Bethany), Dylan Ausmus, Anna Schaugaard (Chase) and five great grandchildren, Marlie, Channing, Hailey, Rosie and Rowan. He is also survived by his sister, Elisa Gonzales of Port Lavaca, Texas along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Alfonso’s life will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 6, 2018 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Badeaux, officiating. Burial with Full Military honors will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
