Dolores Gonzales, 97, of Port Arthur passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Forever Young, private care home in Groves.
She was born on March 19, 1921 to her parents, Martin Gonzales and Luz Sandoval Gonzales in Navasota, Texas. Dolores has been a resident of Port Arthur area for most of her life. She retired from Texaco as a employee relations clerk after 41 years of service. Dolores was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she was active in the Choir, Senior Club, Altar Society and las damas Guadalupanas. She also was a very active member of the Mexican Heritage Fesitival.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and her five siblings, Cuca Lopez, Isabel Garza, Pureza Vasquez, Sotero Gonzales and Henry Gonzales.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Rev. Urbano Sáenz Ramírez serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Nederland.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Penny Lee and Forever Young Staff, Hospice Plus of Beaumont for their excellent care provided to Dolores.
In Lieu of Flowers, family has requested donations to be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in memory of Dolores.
