Gloria Bourgeois

March 17, 1937 - May 30, 2018

Gloria Bourgeois, 81, of Keller, TX passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine.

Gloria was born on March 17, 1937 in Port Arthur to parents Searcy and Mary Johnson. She attended Port Neches High School and graduated in 1955. She also attended Port Arthur Business College.

Gloria met the love of her life, Eddie Bourgeois, and they were married on April 30, 1958. They moved from Nederland in 1970 raising their children in Wilmington, DE. They later returned to the south residing in La Place, LA and several years after Eddie passing away, Gloria returned to Texas.

We will all remember her for her great cooking, making her fabulous shrimp gumbo and meatballs and spaghetti just like Ma Ma Johnson. Gloria loved eating out with family and friends. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; proudly displaying pictures throughout her home and loved sharing with visitors. Gloria had a giving heart and would frequently give money to people on the street and was a great supporter of St. Jude’s.

Gloria is survived by her children, Drena Bourgeois of Louisiana, Craig Bourgeois of Newark, DE, Jan Berthy of North Richland Hills, TX; brother, Searcy Johnson and his wife, Regina of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and six great children.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. A 2 pm funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the funeral home, celebrant will be Rev. J. C. Coon. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland.
